Abstract

The experiment was conducted on a local buffalo farm in the Laylan district for the period from June 1, 2025, to September 1, 2025, for a total period of 92 days. Twenty adult female buffaloes of the Mesopotamian (Al-Furat) breed, aged between 7 and 10 years and with an average body weight of 816.75 ± 10 kg, were used. The animals were randomly allocated into four equal treatments, with five buffaloes per treatment. The treatments consisted of a control group in which buffaloes were drenched with clean water only, and three treatment groups that received an oral drench of an aqueous Shilajit solution at doses of 100, 150, and 200 mg/kg body weight per day, respectively. The aqueous Shilajit solution was prepared by dissolving the required dose in 100 mL of clean water, followed by stirring on a magnetic stirrer for 30 min and allowing the solution to stand for 24 h before filtration. Overall, biochemical parameters were significantly improved, with increases in glucose, total protein, albumin, and globulin levels. In contrast, cholesterol concentration and the activities of AST and ALT enzymes were significantly  reduced.
