Water management is key to the efficient use of water and in promoting crop production, particularly in water scarce semi-arid areas. The present study aims to estimate the crop water requirements for tomato and potato crop and irrigation scheduling for Al-Qadisiya Governorate, middle of Iraq, using CROPWAT 8.0 model developed by FAO. This research was carried out to identify the irrigation requirement and management of most important crops. The results indicate that adequate water availability will be needed for tomatoes and potatoes during their flowering and fruiting period. The crop water requirement 1159.4 is mm/dec and 588.5 mm/dec for tomatoes and potatoes. But the study stresses the need to ensure irrigation management in accordance with ET, soil moisture and climate for sustainable agriculture. From the above observations it was suggested that the water requirement of a crop can be simulated better by using the CROPWAT 8.0 model of the crops and the same can be used to suggest irrigation scheduling to the farmers. The findings may help water-stressed scientists, policy makers and farmers to better manage their irrigation water
